Overview

Here you'll find the building blocks for our brand. Every use and application of the YouTube brand must be approved through the form below.

Using the YouTube logo

Below, you'll find downloadable versions of the logo:

Clear space

Clear space buffers the logo from images, text or other graphics that compromise its impact and visibility. The more breathing room that you give our logo, the greater the impact it can have.

The clear space around the logo must be equal to or greater than the size of the triangle in the icon.

Sizing

We've optimised our logo for specific sizes. The YouTube logo must be crystal clear and legible, whether it appears on a smartphone or the jumbo screen in an arena.

The minimum height for digital media is 20 dp (20 px)

The minimum height for print is 3.1 mm (0.125 in)

Don't do this

The YouTube logo is a symbol that people recognise, so it should never be altered.

Don't

Use the logo in a phrase or sentence.

Full-colour logo

The full-colour logos pair our YouTube Red icon with Almost Black (#212121) or White (#FFFFFF) text. The triangle in the red icon must always be white.

The Almost Black full-colour logo can be shown on a White background or light imagery

The White full-colour logo can be shown on an Almost Black background or dark imagery.

Monochrome logo

If it's difficult to see the full-colour logo over a specific colour or image, you can use a monochrome logo instead.

In monochrome logos, the icon is the same colour as the wordmark (either Almost Black or White). The triangle in the icon is knocked out so that the background shows through.

Using the YouTube icon

Our icon

The YouTube logo icon is a flexible mark that can act as a call to action or a shorter version of the YouTube logo. If you don't have room to use the logo at minimum size with the required clear space, you should use the YouTube icon instead.

Using the icon in social media

The YouTube icon can only be used in social media assets when it links to a YouTube channel.

Important: The only time that a logo or icon can be made into a link is when the destination URL is a YouTube channel.

Podcast badging

Your podcast deserves all the attention in the world. That's why we've created these podcast badges as a tool to use in all of your marketing needs. To ensure the best legibility and clear communication, follow these guidelines when promoting podcasts on YouTube and YouTube Music in marketing communications, including advertising, apps, websites and printed promotions.

Do

  • Only use the YouTube podcast badge if your podcast content appears on YouTube

  • Only use the badge design provided by YouTube.

  • Use the rounded badges when you are able to click through directly to your podcast.

  • For digital assets, use the scalable vector format or SVG.

  • For printed assets, make sure that you use the artwork in the EPS format and match the colour profile with the needs of your printer.

  • Only use one badge on your website/socials/etc.

  • Place the badge below or to the right of the images and copy that are promoting your content.

  • Keep the badge smaller than the other images and main message. Don't make it the dominant artwork.

  • The minimum clear space around the badge should be at least one-tenth of the height of the badge.

Don't

  • Do not alter the YouTube-provided badge artwork in any way.

  • Do not eliminate the 'Listen on' call to action message.

  • Do not modify, angle, animate, rotate or tilt the badge.

  • Do not apply special effects such as shadows or glows to the badge.

  • Do not alter the artwork in any way.

  • Do not use any other icons, logos or graphics from the YouTube website or from YouTube apps.

  • Do not imitate YouTube communications.

  • Do not use the YouTube logo alone (unless you have requested and received special approval).

Partners and advertisers

You want to promote your YouTube channel or content and we want to help. You're welcome to use the YouTube name, logo and icon as long as you adhere to the logo and icon use guidelines, as well as those found below.

Do

  • Get every use of any YouTube brand element approved by YouTube

  • Follow all guidelines for the YouTube brand

  • Avoid repetitive use of the YouTube logo in channel art

  • Ensure that the logos in use are up to date

  • Use the YouTube icon within a social icon lineup

  • Use the standard logo to promote your channel or content when linking or driving traffic to your channel

Don't

  • Use logos or brand elements to drive to sites outside of YouTube

  • Modify logos, icons or other brand elements in any way, including but not limited to altering proportions, positions, stretching, condensing, changing colour or typefaces, flipping or rotating or adding effects

  • Place the full-colour logo on red (due to lack of visibility)

  • Partially cover the logo or icon

  • Place an image within the logo or icon

Here are some good and bad examples of using YouTube branding:

When using YouTube inline with other social media icons, it's best to use the YouTube icon rather than the YouTube logo.

Correct YouTube logo and icon

Please double-check to make sure that you're using the correct, updated YouTube logo and not an unofficial or old logo (there are lots out there). The latest logos can be downloaded below:

The standard logo should not be placed on a red background due to a lack of visibility. The white monochrome logo works best on red.

Third-party approvals

  • You're responsible for getting third-party approvals from relevant content owners for any content that you upload to YouTube that doesn't belong to you.

  • You must have appropriate third-party approval from relevant content owners if you show any content in promotional material.

  • YouTube doesn't negotiate permissions on behalf of our partners. You must contact the image or video owner directly to secure appropriate permissions.

  • By uploading to YouTube, you guarantee that you have the necessary rights to upload your video. YouTube reserves the right to remove any content from the site that may violate its Terms of Use or Community Guidelines.

Using the word 'YouTuber'

Guidelines for creators

  • We love that so many creators like to call themselves YouTubers. We just ask that 'YouTuber' or 'Tuber' is only used when talking about a person creating and uploading original video or music content to YouTube.

  • We also want to keep 'YouTuber' casual. That way everyone can use it. So please don't use 'YouTuber' or 'Tuber' in the official names of things, like video series, books and programmes or register domains, channel names or trademarks that include those words. This'll help us protect the YouTube trademark for the whole creator community.

Guidelines for advertisers

  • 'YouTuber' should only be used when referring to a person that creates and uploads original video or music content to YouTube. It's not OK to call people that only upload content to other video platforms 'YouTubers'.

  • So that we can be sure that 'YouTuber' is only used in a casual way, we ask that third parties not use 'YouTuber' in the official names of things, like video series, books and programmes or seek to register domains, channel names or trademarks that include those words. This'll help protect the YouTube trademark for us and for the community.

  • Whilst 'Tuber' can be used by YouTube creators informally, it should never be used by advertisers.

Note: Any use of YouTube brand elements needs special approval and must be submitted in English through the brand use request form for review.

For non-English requests, please contact your YouTube partnerships counterpart. YouTube reserves the right to object to any inappropriate uses of its trademarks and to enforce its rights at any time.

Entertainment and media

To show the YouTube brand in any media (videos, TV shows, movies, newspapers, etc.), please read these guidelines.

Brand use approval

If you're in the entertainment and media industry, all product placements that show any YouTube logos, icons or elements of the UI (e.g. buttons, pages, mobile screenshots) in any media (e.g. TV, music videos, movies, books) must be approved by YouTube. Please adhere to the logo use guidelines, as well as those found below, then submit your request in English through the brand use request form. If the product placement will be viewed by a large audience, then you may need to sign Google LLC release forms.

Important: If you're part of the press, you don't need to submit a request for review through the brand use request form. Please read Using the YouTube Logo. After that, you're welcome to download the YouTube logo or icon for use.

Before submitting your product placement request, please ensure the following

  • The product placement reflects YouTube in a positive or neutral way.

  • Any video content developed specifically for the product placement does not violate YouTube's Community Guidelines and would not violate YouTube's Terms of Use.

  • You can provide ample context for the placement to submit with your request. You should submit one PDF file including mocks of the YouTube logo and/or YouTube interface in context, as well as relevant script pages, an overview of the production, the production company name, the production name and any other details, such as actor(s) or director, which will help us to understand how YouTube will be represented in the production.

Third-party approvals

  • YouTube doesn't own the rights to third-party content on the site. If your product placement shows a user's or a partner's content, you are responsible for clearing the use of the content with the content owner(s).

  • YouTube doesn't negotiate permissions on behalf of our partners. You must contact the image or video owner directly to secure appropriate permissions.

  • By uploading to YouTube, you guarantee that you have the necessary rights to upload. YouTube reserves the right to remove any content from the site that may violate its Terms of Use or Community Guidelines.

  • Once you have all of your information and materials, submit a brand use request in English for review through the brand use request form. Please allow up to a week for a reply. For non-English requests, please contact your YouTube partnerships counterpart. YouTube reserves the right to object to any inappropriate uses of its trademarks and to enforce its rights at any time.
