Since releasing my first (rather shaky) YouTube video in 2011 , I have grown to love documenting my adventures across the Scottish Highlands. As I’ve explored new areas and taken to new outdoors pursuits, YouTube has been fantastic in allowing me to document these. Initially for my own records , I soon realised others were somehow also interested in seeing these majestic landscapes and mountains. YouTube has been the perfect platform for sharing my adventures in the mountains.
"A jack of all trades is a master of none”, the old adage goes. Not for Mike Boyd, who’s on a mission to master them all. Every month, Mike picks a new challenge and tries to learn it as quickly as possible, documenting the entire process for his channel. Whether he’s learning how to ride a penny farthing, trying to get into Oxford University, or becoming an app developer, Mike’s aim is to inspire audiences to learn something new. Since starting his channel in 2015, Mike’s unique pastime has evolved into a full-time job taking on the challenge of inspiring a staggering 2.7m subscribers to keep learning something new!
What I love about YouTube is the fact that anyone can create something and will find a relevant audience. For me, YouTube has turned my interest in videography and passion for learning new skills into a career. When I started uploading, I would have never believed you if you had told me a few years later it would be my full-time job!
