Frequently asked questions
YouTube removes comments that break our Community Guidelines, but you’ve got extra tools to help protect your channel. You can change your comment settings, filter and pause comments, hide users, or even create channel guidelines where available.
Holding comments
When you choose to turn comments On, you'll also have the option to choose if they'll be held. You can tap the Comment moderation drop-down to view your options:
- None: Don't hold any comments.
- Basic: Hold potentially inappropriate comments.
- Strict: Hold a broader range of potentially inappropriate comments.
- Hold all: Hold all comments.
Communities are a dedicated space for you and your audience to connect with each other right from your channel. In your Community, your subscribers can start discussions about your videos, share pictures, start polls and take part in other activities that create more engagement around your videos.
Writing a post
Once you've turned on your Community, you can write a welcome post for your subscribers.
- On your computer, go to your channel page.
- Click Visit Community.
- In the box at the top, write your welcome post, add images, or create a poll.
- Click Post.
Collaborations on YouTube let you invite up to five creators to be added as collaborators in your video. Viewers can see collaborations on desktop, mobile, and TV.
You can invite collaborators to both long-form videos and Shorts. You can invite collaborators to an archived live stream, but not active live streams.

To invite a collaborator:
- Sign in to YouTube Studio.
- At the top right, click Create and then Upload videos.
- Click Select files or drag and drop video files to upload your video.
- In the Details section under Audience, click Show more.
- Under Collaboration, click Invite a collaborator.
